Barbershop Owner was fatally shot in his own shop while giving an eight-year-old boy a haircut on Wednesday, November 30.
The shooting reportedly took place shortly after 5:00 p.m. m. when an unidentified suspect entered the JQ Barber Shop at 112 East Stewart Avenue and shot the 43-year-old man multiple times. According to ABC News, police said, “The business was occupied at the time of the incident by several individuals who are cooperating with the investigation. These individuals informed responding officers that the suspect entered the business and went directly to the booth where the victim was”. cutting the hair of an eight-year-old boy. Fatally Shot in his Own Shop
Authorities have not released the victim’s name. In addition to the owner, the boy, his mother, another customer, and another hairdresser were present in the store at the time of the shooting, and no one else was injured. “Upon arrival, officers immediately requested the assistance of Central Pierce Fire and Rescue. Central Pierce Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene moments after the request and determined the individual was deceased,” police added.
According to ABC, authorities have launched an investigation to capture the suspect, who is said to be 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing black pants, a black jacket, and possibly a mask. At this time, police believe it was a targeted shooting and preliminary information showed nothing was stolen from the store.
The investigation is currently being led by the Puyallup Police Department Investigative Services Unit. Authorities are asking anyone who works or lives in the vicinity of the shooting to check their security cameras for anyone matching the suspect’s description and to contact the Puyallup Police Department with any information regarding this case.
This incident comes on the heels of another incident in which a 43-year-old man was shot to death inside a Boston barbershop. Police responded to the Celebrity Cuts Barber Shop at 145 Washington St around 7:17 p.m. on October 28.
Inside, they found 43-year-old Herman Maxwell Hylton of Roxbury had been shot. Despite paramedics doing their best, he died at the scene. There have been a series of shootings in Boston, prompting people to demand that the leadership take some action.
