She is now said to be at the Washington Correctional Facility for Women, which has been nicknamed ‘Camp Cupcake’ due to its easy regimen.

Sonia was jailed, according to Reduxx, after a girl, 13 years old at the time, was allegedly groomed by her.

The convicted child rapist, who was identifying himself as male at the time of the crimes, allegedly convinced the young woman that he would help her earn money from the ‘model’.

Sonia then pressured the 13-year-old girl to remove her clothes and perform sexual acts while Sonia took photos, according to the publication.

Sonia was tried in California and New Hampshire and in 2005 she was found guilty of a combined 20 counts of committing a lewd act with a child and possessing child pornography in Los Angeles.

The convicted child rapist was later charged with repeatedly raping the girl and photographing the assaults in Strafford County, New Hampshire, in 2006.

Sonia ultimately received sentences in both California and New Hampshire.

After serving a minimum of 22.5 years for the New Hampshire sentence, a Los Angeles County court will decide whether Sonia will serve additional time in California.

When she was jailed, Sonia was sent to Washington to serve part of her sentence in 2016, a year after she began identifying as transgender.

The Interstate Corrections Compact (ICC) allows states to share correctional resources and transfer inmates to cross-border facilities if it better suits their needs.

Sonia had been transferred to various men’s facilities in Washington before leaving a trail of complaints, with the inmate allegedly saying she did not have adequate “gender-affirming care.”

Sonia filed a complaint in 2020 saying she believed she was at “risk of male assault” while working at the Airway Heights Correctional Center.

Sonia’s request to be transferred appears to have been granted, with some inmates claiming to have seen her at the Washington Correctional Center for Women (WCCW).

Speaking under a different name, Shawn, who has a close relative at the facility, told Reduxx that he was “deeply concerned for the safety of the women inside.”

Concern began to flare inside the women’s prison when Sonia allegedly began to switch between identifying as a woman and as a man.

“He was saying that he is both…he identifies as a man sometimes, and a woman sometimes,” Shawn explained.

He knows that he looks like a normal middle-aged man with glasses. My relative says that he doesn’t look trans at all.

‘An individual approached my relative and informed him that Sonia is identifying herself as a man. He also said that at least one woman is terrified and uses a buddy system to go to the bathroom.

Shawn claimed that some women on the inside have been warning each other to “stay away” from Sonia, believing that he is a risk to them.

On March 31, a bill was passed ending public disclosures about the transgender status of current and formerly incarcerated individuals.

Shawn worries that men could be transferred under false pretenses, telling Reduxx that women’s facilities are a much more comfortable place to serve time.

‘WCCW is known as ‘camp cupcake’ because it’s easy to spend time there. Men want to be there,” Shawn said.

Another inmate had sent a message that Shawn shared with Reduxx, which claimed that many “aggressive men” had been transferred.

“These women have a history of deep trauma, mostly at the hands of men,” he said.

Brett Sonia’s name turned up in a search on the Justice Department’s inmate website, but the prison where he is being held was not listed. Dailymail.com has also contacted WWCW for comment.
