“In this case, a lawfully armed member of our community prevented a violent crime and ensured his own safety, while dealing with multiple armed suspects,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. “This investigation is active and ongoing and no additional information will be released at this time.”

Charged & Arrested

Riverside County Sheriff’s officials arrested three suspects: Justin Johnson, 22, of Inglewood, California, Jamar Williams, 27, of Los Angeles, and Davon Broadus, of Las Vegas, Nevada, at a local hospital.

Johnson, Williams, and Broadus were taken to the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside for robbery and conspiracy. Instead of $500,000 bail, they’re being held in jail.

Authorities said the prime suspect will also be registered at the facility after he is discharged from the hospital.

Incident Detail

Norco Market & Liquor employees said the owner watched the store’s cameras as the van was pulled into the parking lot. Seeing the first attacker getting out of the truck and wearing a mask, the owner immediately turned to his rifle.

“She just got ready… and she stood there, took aim, and fired,” store manager Marnia Tapia told Fox11.

Employees said the store owner was not in the store on Monday. But Fox11 reported that the man had a heart attack soon after the shooting. He is expected to recover and will be discharged from the hospital Monday night.

Sheriff officials said the SUV used in the robbery attempt was stolen and there were several stolen firearms in the vehicle.
