According to authorities, 17-year-old Liming and his friends were shooting people from a car with a toy water gun, while a group of people approached and made physical contact with them.

After police teams were dispatched to the scene, police said they found Liming “unresponsive” in the parking lot. While the aid to the high school student was inconclusive, it was determined that he died at the scene.

The Summit County Office of Medical Examiners said Liming died as a result of a blunt head injury, and the manner of death is being considered homicide, according to NBC News.

Speaking to Fox News, Liming’s father, Bill Liming, described the situation as an “absolute nightmare” and said of his son, “He had a very bright future. He was loved. His friends also supported him wonderfully. Little brother.”

“She was with a really good group of guys and they were trying to have fun, be young, and meet some people I wish I had never met in their lives,” she continued.

James, 37, reacted to the news of Liming’s death shortly after it was made public in a tweet the next day.

“Our condolences to the family who lost their loved ones!! Heaven bless you during this tragedy! Pray for our congregation!” He wrote next to a green heart and crown emoji.

Suspect Charged & Arrested

The Akron Police Department later made three arrests in connection with Liming’s death on Saturday, ABC 5 reported.

Deshawn Stafford, 20; Tyler Stafford, 19, and Donovan Jones, 21, were charged with murder and grievous assault, the news agency said. Jones is also accused of disrupting public service.

“Ethan’s senseless and tragic death has impacted every person in our community. These arrests would not have been possible without the dedication of our Akron Police Department and cooperation with the US Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force,” said Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan.
