Woman Found Dead
Merseyside Police were called to the couple’s home in Piele Road, Haydock on the morning of Wednesday 31st August due to concerns for the safety of a woman.
The body of Mrs. Forrest, known as Jaki to her friends and family, was found in the house.
A post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death to be blunt force head trauma and manual asphyxiation from strangulation or suffocation.
Massey’s attorney, Dan Travers, said the knife wounds found on her body were caused after her death.
Speaking of his client, he said: “He doesn’t believe he had the intent to kill.
Massey, who appeared in the dock for the first time after previously appearing from prison via video link, also pleaded guilty to attempting to murder Murphy and Roberts on Aug. 31 and possessing a knife-wielding item (a pair of scissors) on the same date at Charnock. Road, Liverpool.
Massey has been taken into custody pending his sentencing on November 10. A provisional date for the trial for next February had been included but has now been ruled out.
Judge Brian Cummings, KC, said he could not be sentenced today as both the prosecution and defense had more preparation to do.
He told the defendant that his guilty plea “will entitle him to some kind of reduction by way of credit, the level of which will be determined at the next occasion.”
