Jeremiah Green Wiki – Jeremiah Green Bio

Jeremiah Green was an American musician best known as a founding member and drummer of the indie rock band Modest Mouse from 1993 until March 2003, has died.

Jeremiah Martin-Green was born on March 4, 1977, in Oahu, Hawaii, while his father was stationed there in the military. He grew up in Moxee, Washington, just a few miles from Yakima. His family moved to the Seattle area in 1989. He had an older brother named Adam. His father was an alcoholic who abused Green; he later apologized and reconciled with his son.

Green took drum lessons for three months in his teens, but his teacher didn’t inspire him. He immersed himself in the Seattle music scene, joining a band and attending concerts at night. His early influences included local groups like Treepeople and Hammerbox. His first favorite band was the English gothic rock band The Cure; Green was particularly inspired by the percussion on his 1982 album Pornography. However, Green cited DC’s post-hardcore band Fugazi as his biggest influence on starting a band.

Green founded Modest Mouse along with lead singer Issac Brock and bassist Eric Judy in 1992.

He performed with Modest Mouse until 2003 when he opted to leave the band. Green’s hiatus lasted only a year, and he reunited with his bandmates in 2004.
