John Tyson was a Tyson Foods CFO arrested on Sunday, November 6 for public intoxication and trespassing after he entered a stranger’s home and passed out on his bed. The incident occurred around 2 am on Sunday, when a college woman who entered her home late discovered that her front door was apparently open.

Tyson is a fourth-generation member of the Tyson family. He was named chief financial officer of Tyson Foods in September and groomed for the roles of CEO and president, the positions his father and grandfather held at the company. In 2019, he joined the executive team and is also a member of the Tyson Foods business leadership team.

His father, John H Tyson, is currently the chairman of the board of Tyson Foods. John Tyson completed his undergraduate degree in economics from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford University, according to his company biography. His previous work experiences include investment banking for JP Morgan and as a private equity and venture capital investor.

Tyson Foods CFO Arrested for Breaking into Stranger’s Home

When police tried to wake Tyson up, he sat up but was unable to respond verbally, then tried to go back to sleep, according to the preliminary arrest report. The police report said that Tyson’s breath and body smelled of alcohol and that he was “slow and uncoordinated.” He was placed under arrest on charges of breaking and entering and public intoxication. He was released Sunday night after being held at the Washington County Detention Center.

A company representative told KNWA that he was aware of the incident but had no additional comment because “it’s a personal matter.” The Tyson family holds a roughly 71% voting stake in the company, according to its latest annual report.

The heiress to the second largest food processing company in the US was found asleep in her bed, KNWA Fox 24 reports. The woman called the police about a possible robbery and said she found “a man she I don’t know asleep in her bed,” according to police. A police officer found Tyson’s clothes scattered on the floor after he responded and was later identified by an ID he found in his wallet.
