As the city grapples with this gruesome murder, a Twitter user revealed details about another University of Idaho student who was mercilessly murdered in the city. His death has remained a mystery to the city for 41 years.
Kristin David died at the age of 22 years old.
Internet Recalls Idaho Student Death
The Twitter user unveiled about Kristin David and wrote, “On June 26, 1981, college student Kristin David, 22, was riding her bike from Moscow, Idaho to Lewiston, Idaho, when she vanished. Eight days later, her dismembered remains were found in garbage bags by a fisherman along the shore of the nearby Snake River.”
David, a 22-year-old University of Idaho senior, was last seen alive on Friday, June 26, 1981, while riding south on US Highway 95 toward Lewiston, Idaho. David’s fragmented remains were discovered in and along the Snake River six miles west of Clarkston, Washington, at an area just west of Silcott Island, on July 4, 1981.

The next day, some, but not all, of the remains, were discovered somewhere down the river. The body parts were wrapped in pages from several April 1981 local newspaper issues and were hidden inside black plastic bags. David’s blue 10-speed bicycle, clothes, and other personal belongings were never found, as reported by People.
However, the accused was never caught up till now, but the police had a suspect under the radar. The unidentified suspect was described as a White male, around 30 years old, weighing approximately 180 pounds, and standing around 5’10” tall. The unknown suspect was also characterized as stocky or husky with a beard. One person characterized the unknown suspect’s hair and beard as brown and another as red/reddish, but no one else provided a precise hair or beard color. After the crime, the unidentified suspect may have shaved his beard or altered his appearance, per the report.
According to reports, the unidentified culprit was said to be driving a well-kept brown van with yellow license plates and dark lettering. It is unknown whether the suspect was the registered van owner or whether the yellow plates correctly belonged to the van. The van may have featured a sliding side door on the passenger side and two swing-out rear doors, each with a window, and it could have been personalized in some way. However, on the 40th anniversary of David’s death, the FBI reissued a call for general tips with information concerning her death, as reported by KREM2.
