Albanian state police spokesman Gent Mullai told The Telegraph: “Albanian police have successfully completed an international operation to free a man who was kidnapped.
“The Albanian police, the metropolitan police, and the NCA officers managed to free him.
“The Albanian police crime investigation directorate received information about a 30-year-old Albanian who was kidnapped in England and asked for £400,000 to release him.
“The Albanian state police exchanged information with the UK, which then organized an operation to free him.”
The case came to light when it was said that the abductee’s brother, who is safe under the protection of the police, received videos of the group and received alarming phone calls.
The family was given just four days to raise the bulk of the half million.
Mullai added: “That operation identified and freed the kidnapped man who is now safely under the protection of UK police. So far seven people, all Albanians, have been arrested.”
“The operation continues. We cannot name the kidnapped person or the arrested people until the end of this operation.”
