Sania Khan Wiki – Sania Khan Bio

Sania Khan, In July, the estranged husband of a 29-year-old woman traveled from Georgia to her Chicago apartment building to kill her and himself in a murder-suicide after she posted about her failed marriage on social media.

Now Shazia Khan, mother of the late TikTok star Sania Khan, is accusing her daughter’s building of facilitating the murder-suicide in a wrongful death lawsuit filed earlier this week.

“Sania Khan’s story is tragic and should have been avoided. The defendants have known for more than [seven] months that Sania’s estranged husband posed a significant threat to her life,” Chicago attorney Mike Gallagher, who is handling the case, told Fox News Digital in a statement. “And despite this knowledge, the defendants allowed him to walk past security before escorting him to the secure part of the building, without even asking to see her identification.”

Gallagher added that if the building’s management staff had followed their own policies, they would have discovered that Sania’s estranged husband, Raheel Ahmad, “was on a ‘do not enter the list for the building.” He would also have prevented her from entering and walking through the building without showing identification on him, she said.

A Chicago Police Department (CPD) incident report states that police responded to the 200 block of East Ohio Street in Chicago on July 18 around 4:30 p.m. Both died of gunshot wounds to the head.

Police in Alpharetta, Georgia, where Ahmad lived at the time of his death, asked CPD to conduct a welfare check on the 36-year-old medical student after his family apparently reported him missing in the Atlanta area. . A Georgia officer also alerted CPD that the couple was “going through a divorce” and that Ahmad had traveled to Chicago “to save the marriage.”

“She is very upset that Sania went to great lengths to protect herself, including removing [Ahmad] from the lease,” Gallagher said of Sania’s mother, adding that management and staff who worked at Khan’s building, Grand Ohio in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, did not stop to check Ahmad’s ID or alert Sania that he had entered the building that day in July, even though Sania had alerted the building to the threat he posed to her.

Video obtained by Shazia’s attorney shows Ahmad entering the building on July 18 and going through security without showing his identification. He met with a real estate agent, who is seen on the tape showing his own ID to security at a management office, to tour the apartments. After two tours, Ahmad allegedly told the real estate agent that he didn’t want to see any more apartments and told him that he was meeting some friends at the building, at which point they left.

Ahmad eventually went up to the 28th floor, where he apparently entered Sania’s apartment and shot her and himself in the head.

The 36-year-old can also be seen carrying a bag of clothes in the footage, which Gallagher said contained Sania’s wedding dress.

Ahmad did this despite previously being banned from the building due to previous threats he had made to Sania, according to Gallagher.

The lawsuit isn’t just about blaming the building for failing to prevent the 29-year-old’s murder, Gallagher said. It concerns management’s failure to complete “their normal security protocols in verifying identification or notifying [Sania]” that she had entered the building, as well as the building’s alleged knowledge that Ahmad posed a threat to one of its residents.

Before the apparent murder-suicide, Khan had posted uplifting videos on TikTok about escaping a toxic marriage and moving on with his life.

“Going through a divorce as a South Asian woman feels like you’re failing in life sometimes,” he wrote in a video last month. “The way the community labels you, the lack of emotional support you get, and the pressure to stay with someone because ‘what will people say’ isolates you. It makes it harder for women to leave marriages they shouldn’t have been in, to begin with.”

In another recent post showing off a new tattoo of the Roman numerals for the number 28, Khan said that 28 was the year she got married, filed for divorce, and “nearly died.” Other posts noted his family’s lack of support for his life choices.

Sania’s murder received international attention, not because of the act itself, but because of the person that she was,” Gallagher said. “During the last [six] months of her life, Sania took to social media to discuss a topic that is taboo in Muslim and South Asian communities. The issue of divorce and spousal abuse. Sania shared her story and her inner strength with others in the hope that they would find the courage to stand up for themselves.”

Shazia Khan is “crushed” by what she believes to be the wrongful death of her daughter. “She lost her oldest daughter, [who] was beautiful, talented, intelligent, extremely compassionate, and had a very bright future,” Gallagher said.
