Shaun Aver, a registered sex offender, was on the run from the police after being called to jail.
Aver, who lives in Bury in Greater Manchester, was known to have links across the North West at Bamber Bridge, Chorley, Preston, Blackpool, and Lancaster in Lancashire.
During their search, Preston Police jokingly posted a series of photos of themselves searching for Aver outside a local Greggs.
He raised eyebrows last month when police asked for details of his whereabouts, showing him wearing a blouse emblazoned with the logo of the popular bakery company.
After his arrest yesterday, the police revealed that they had been able to catch him because the image boosted the recognition of him among the public, allowing them to locate him.
Shaun Aver is 36 years old.
Caught By Police
Authorities were searching for the suspect after breaching their sex offender requirements, and he was eventually apprehended by police at a location in Merseyside.

Aver has no fixed address and must register at the police station every seven days as part of his sexual harm prevention order.
She did not, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. Merseyside Police have told MailOnline Aver was charged with stealing £800 worth of coats from John Lewis in Liverpool on Monday 2 January 2023.
“Aver appeared in Adult Detention Court on Tuesday, January 3, and pleaded guilty,” the force said. He was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison and to pay the costs.
Preston Police said: ‘May you remind us that we requested information to locate Shaun AVER as he was wanted on a prison call.
“Good news, he was located in Merseyside and has been arrested.
Tom Goulden quipped, “He’s wanted for baking and coming in and possession of an offensive jumper.”

If he doesn’t get arrested for his crimes against fashion, he’ll want to get arrested to hide his humiliation. Greater Manchester Police reposted the Facebook petition, adding: “Other bakery chains are available.”
Greggs launched a limited edition clothing range with Primark. He has contacted Lancashire Police and Merseyside Police for comment.
